A little cat is wandering in through a door that's been left ajar, padding silently into a room - which, Kitty realizes with a little start of guilt, is a bedroom, and Cordelia and Aral's bedroom. Even as a cat, she doesn't have any right to go in here...Yet it would look a little weirder if she were just to suddenly back out instead, especially when she looks up and sees Cordelia looking at her.

Oh, dear. Especially since...Cordelia is so kind; she's probably not going to tell the cat to shoo, is she? ]

We're almost done folding clothes. He wants to go to the beach. Unless you want us to stick around the house, I thought I'd get a taxi, pick him up some swim trunks, and head over to Heropa for a few hours.

[ It takes her a moment to calm the butterflies in her stomach at the suggesting, irrational maternal instincts kicking in like they haven't done for decades with her. But she trusts Tex. ]

Sounds good. Just make sure he still follows house rules outside the house. I'd almost suggest one of those leashes for kids for the little twerp, I saw them in the store the other day. Too bad Barrayar didn't have them back then.

[ Things have been busy and it hasn't been long since she's moved over to DC7. It had made choosing a date location harder, but she'd have to get used to the area somehow.

Which leads to an evening of her rushing to get ready. She doesn't often have an excuse to get dressed up and it had required a special shopping trip to find a dress fitting for what they wanted. Cordelia only being right down the hall, getting ready herself, had made the experience surreal. The feeling is not entirely unwelcomed after finding herself left alone in her last home once Church vanished, and this night out is exactly what she needs.

It isn't until she's lightly make-upped and dressed in a short, black dress that she goes to seek out Cordelia. She calls out, ] You ready?

[ The door to her bedroom with Aral is closed, but Tex will be able to hear Cordelia calling, ] Come in!

There's two layers to the surprise: one, that Gregor is contacting her suddenly because he only would do that in emergencies, and two, that Gregor is doing dumb things instead of Miles. ]
